Lori Daugherty, born in Cincinnati, Ohio, was inspired at a very young age by her grandmother. An artist herself, Edith shared her passion and appreciation of art with Lori by teaching her various techniques and mediums. While studying at the University of Cincinnati, Lori picked up her boyfriend’s Canon AE1 camera, and fell in love with the camera and the guy. After bringing up their two wonderful children in Dayton, Ohio, Lori attended photography classes at Sinclair Community College; there she became fascinated with alternative photography techniques.
Lori has always searched for the next artistic challenge, whether it’s photography, pottery, pastels or painting. She believes that by exploring multiple mediums one can continuously learn, grow and improve all aspects of one’s artistic expression. Lori is currently exploring the encaustic medium and finds that by incorporating other mediums into her artwork, she has a much broader range of work.
Lori opened up her first studio, Darty Art, in November of 2019. She continues to show and sell her artwork locally, and has received several awards from Woodland Cemetery, Sinclair Community College and Preble County Art Association.
