Melanie Morrett

I was born and raised in the deep South and graduated with a BFA degree in Graphic Design in 1985 at the University of South Alabama, but have chosen instead to pour my life into creating fine art.  I became a member of the ARTery gallery in January of 2019, and at the Village Artisans Gallery in Yellow Springs, OH June of 2019. Over my career I have exhibited and received awards in many local and National art shows, and a pinnacle in my artistic career was creating and selling a large color etching of the Augusta National Club House during the Masters Golf tournament for three years.

My style for most of my career has been classical, very disciplined and detailed.  However, recently I have begun exploring various exciting, more contemporary approaches and techniques especially in my printmaking which includes hand drawn, inked and printed etchings, monotypes and monoprints.

My life is a journey and my art is a journal of images that have stirred something deep within my soul.   Each piece is like a page in my life I have recorded and shared so others can see and experience the world through my eyes.  A picture is truly worth a thousand words, and I have chosen etching ink, pastels, and oil paints to share my stories. Each work has a unique story to tell and I am happy to share the inspirations behind each one.
