MhR Studio for Art and Healing

I am a retired pastor of 28 years. My spirituality remains central to all of my creative endeavors.

My studio is a place for creative expression, meditation, relaxation, and healing. I began painting regularly in 1998, as a form of Art as Meditation, which was a daily requirement in the doctoral program I was in and graduated from at the University of Creation Spirituality, in Oakland, CA, in 2002.

All my work, whether my painting practice or the healing energy work of Reiki and Healing Touch that I also do at my studio, flows from my spirituality which is rooted in the premise that everything is part of an interconnected web of life.

My spiritual journey is immersed in Nature spirituality, celebrating the cycles and seasons of Earth’s turning, the moon’s movement from fullness to emptiness, and paying attention to the more-than-human world and the Wisdom contained there. I connect with Creation’s spirituality through ceremony, silence and ritual in order to tap into creation’s sagacity, insight, and healing power.

I am trained in Reiki for use with people and I am trained in Healing Touch for Animals. Both modalities use intention and touch in order to facilitate energy flow in and around the body and to send light, love, and healing energy where it is needed in a person’s, an animal’s, or Earth’s body.

I continue to be convinced that unless we take full responsibility for our spiritual development by facing our fears, healing our wounds, and identifying the divisive thoughts, feelings, and beliefs we hold within, we will continue to add to the division and fragmentation we see in the world. Reiki is an effective tool in helping us to relax, heal, and experience our connection to something bigger than ourselves.
